About Nodal and The Late Build

Nodal is made by one person with a lot of AI agents, live on a stream called The Late Build. Here is who to look for, where to find the work and how this site fits with the creator hub.

Who makes Nodal#

Nodal is built by a developer who goes by vAlentino718 online and runs a livestream and creator brand called The Late Build. This site uses handles only, on purpose. What matters is the work, which is on screen, in the repository records and in the community channels, rather than a personal biography.

The role is the one the project’s records call the Human Product Owner. The developer does not type most of the code. The job is to set the direction, write the prompts, test every build personally, approve or reject every milestone and decide what Nodal is and is not. The agents are Claude models, ChatGPT and Codex models, and the coordination between them is described on how it’s built. The name “The Late Build” is a small joke about the way the project is always one more feature away from done, and the stream is where you can watch that happen.

Why build it in public#

Because ideas are cheap. OpenAI, Anthropic, DeepSeek and xAI have all shipped features that resemble parts of Nodal, and anyone with an AI coding tool can prototype an idea in an afternoon. The owner is direct about this: what is left to offer is taste, persistence and a tool shaped to one person’s workflow, plus the willingness to be watched while doing it. Public building also gives the work a feedback loop: viewers spot bugs, suggest features and keep the project honest. A project that claims to be vibe coded and then shows its commit history and decision ledger is, at least, easy to check.

Where to find the work#

Handles are listed in one place so that you can tell the real accounts from lookalikes. The Twitch channel is exactly thelatebuild, and every handle above uses the same brand name.

The creator hub, and how it relates to this site#

This site is the product site for Nodal. A sibling site, The Late Build creator hub, covers the stream and everything else the owner makes. The two cross-link deliberately, and they cover shared topics from different angles to avoid repeating each other.

Nodal Play and Nodal Strike are related projects that carry the Nodal name: a place to host and play games made by AI-assisted builders, and one of the games made on that idea. They are covered on the creator hub, not here.

What this site is and is not#

  • It is a product and documentation site written from the project’s own records, with each page labelled by what is built and what is only planned.
  • It is not an official site of OpenAI, Anthropic, Ollama, Warp or any other company named here. Product names belong to their owners and are used only to say what Nodal works with or compares itself to.
  • It does not offer a download. Nodal is in beta testing; see the beta page.
  • It does not publish personal contact details. The community channels above are the way to reach the owner.

Thanks#

Nodal stands on a lot of other people’s work: Electron, React and TypeScript, xterm.js and node-pty, the Cordis service framework, Whisper and whisper.cpp, Ollama and the command-line tools from OpenAI and Anthropic that its providers drive. The owner has also said that the BridgeMind community, among other creator communities, was an inspiration to take the project public. Please show those communities some love.

Quick facts#

  • Product: Nodal, also called ToolTab v2.
  • Status: beta 0.2.0 in testing, Windows first, no public download from this site.
  • Technology: Electron, React and TypeScript, with xterm.js and node-pty terminals.
  • Providers: ChatGPT through Codex, Claude through Claude Code and local models through Ollama.
  • Process: a human product owner directing Claude and Codex agents, with a decision ledger and dated evidence.
  • Where it is made: live on The Late Build stream on Twitch and YouTube.
  • Identity: handles only, vAlentino718 and The Late Build.

Get involved#

  1. Watch a stream and say hello in chat.
  2. Join the Discord and read how the beta testing works on the beta page.
  3. Try the ideas in the benchmarks with your own agents and share what you find.
  4. Suggest what to build next, through chat or Discord. Ideas are cheap, and good ones are still welcome.
